Would you like to get involved in the Berkeley Postdoc Association? Do you have ideas about issues that affect postdocs, social events to recommend, or programs you'd like to start? Come join us! The BPA is holding regular monthly meetings the third Thursday of every month, and the meeting is open to all UC Berkeley Postdocs. We usually hold our meeting from 6.30-7.30 pm in 652 Barrows Hall. The BPA is a great way to meet other postdocs, gain leadership experience, and make a difference in the postdoc community. Come join us this month and bring all your great ideas!
The BPA is proud to invite you to our speaker series, Alternative Careers to Academia, designed to expose postdocs to unique career options and to connect them with people who are working in exciting fields outside of academia. Speakers include former UC Berkeley postdocs and graduate students, career counsellors, and others from a wide variety of organisations, who can share their unique experiences and provide valuable insights into finding your dream career. The series runs on the second Thursday of every other month (Alternate to All Talks Considered) from 6:15pm in room 652 Barrows Hall and will be accompanied by light refreshments. If you have any questions please contact Siang Chen Wu at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Postdoc Teaching Opportunities Program (PTOP) allows UC Berkeley postdocs across all disciplines to acquire experience and expertise in teaching college level courses at community colleges, liberal arts colleges, and universities in the Bay Area.

BPEP aims to foster entrepreneurship in the UC Berkeley postdoctoral and graduate community. We provide tools, mentoring, and a platform for science-business communication to enable research innovations to move into the marketplace. We believe entrepreneurship is an integral part of UC Berkeley's ethos, and aim to build a community of entrepreneurship among UC Berkeley's postdocs.
Postdocs and graduate students are often faced with a dilemma: stay in academia or seek a job in industry? For many, this decision is difficult because exposure to industry careers is limited. We developed a program at the University of California Berkeley which increases the transparency about industry so that postdocs and graduate students can make informed decisions about their careers.
HSSA strives to create, maintain, and encourage a social and intellectual community for postdoctoral scholars, visiting scholars, visiting student researchers, and graduate students in the humanities and social sciences.
Thriving in Science is a campus-wide, professional development initiative at U.C. Berkeley that is intended to provide graduate students and postdoctoral researchers with the resources and support to make the most of their academic training.
The VSPA recognises that postdoctoral appointments are only temporary. While they allow individuals a unique opportunity to conduct research in a world leading institution, the time must also prepare postdocs for a career in academia, industry, government and the non-profit sector. As such the VSPA provide career development support.
