Policy

The goals of the policy committee are to review University regulations and to implement changes that improve conditions for postdoctoral researchers at UC Berkeley.

Existing UC Berkeley Policy

The policies that apply to postdoctoral scholars in the University of California system are described in the Academic Personnel Manual 390 (APM-390).

Some of the key regulations covered by the AMP-390 include:

• Postdoctoral Scholar Definitions
• Job Title Codes
• Terms of Service
• Salary and Stipend
• Notice of Appointment
• Grievances
• Sick Leave and Time Off
• Retirement and Benefits

Individual campuses within the UC system have the option to modify APM-390 policies in order to serve specific needs.
