DEI Discussion Group
The DEI (Diversity, Equity & Inclusion) Discussion Group is hosted by PTOP and BPA at UC Berkeley. The goal of this discussion group is to provide a consistent platform where the UCB postdocs and visiting scholars can build community, share resources and discuss action plans to fight against racism towards BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People Of Color) and discrimination based on gender identity, religion, race, ethnicity and sexual orientation in higher education. This month, we will be discussing Bias in Academic Publishing. In an open discussion, we will talk about current biases in publishing, our reactions to these biases, what academic journals are doing in response to bias, and steps that we think can be taken to make academic publishing more inclusive.
